Global Harmonized System for Hazard Communications

The international standard for the communication of hazards is being implemented worldwide with full compliance expected in 2015. Many companies, ports and maritime interests are current addressing the training component now. The standards have been harmonized in the United States and Canada who are working jointly on the new requirements.

There are several locations where information, proposed rules and comparisons to current requirements can be obtained. For US and Canadian interests, the most complete information can be found at:

https://www.osha.gov/dsg/hazcom/global.html

A number of folks have advised me they are unaware of the new system as well as the training requirements. Complete information is available on the web site.
